The Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State has declared that his party still controls a larger youth voter population despite the seeming rise in popularity of Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi among youths in the country. The state chairman made the declaration at the inauguration of state and local government executives of the PDP New Generation, a youth group, in Lafia, the state capital.
As the 2023 general election draws closer, political parties in the country are beginning to constitute and revive it’s youth wings.
This is against a popular notion that apart from the labour party, other political parties, do not have the support of the youths.
The PDP New Generation is a youth group introduced in the party, to give youths a sense of belonging.
The national body of the group and the state chairman of the party are here to inaugurate the state executives of the group.
The state chairman of the party believes that with the group and other youth groups, the party is still in charge of the Nigerian youth population.
The newly inaugurated executives of the group are ready to take the campaign of the party to the grassroots.
The initiative of the party is targeted at involving the youths in the democratic process and getting them to cast their vote for the party at the 2023 general election.
