The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has urged members of the public with additional information about the allegations of defilement and child sexual abuse leveled against popular cancer care specialist, Femi Olaleye, to provide such facts.
She added in a statement released on Thursday, that the DSVA initially received a complaint via its toll free line, bordering on allegations of Sexual Assault by Penetration, Indecent Treatment of a Child and Defilement, allegedly perpetrated by Dr. Olaleye on the 19th of March 2022.
According to her, “The case was immediately referred to the designated Police Station in this instance being Gender Desk department of the Lagos police command. The child had already received medical support and was in the process of receiving psychosocial support.”
Mrs Vivour-Adeniyi added that the DSVA has requested the police to forward the duplicate case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions so that legal advice can be issued. She went on to state that relevant information which would assist with the investigation have also been shared with the police.
Earlier in the week, a coalition of rights activists had expressed their dissatisfaction with the progress on the matter. They called on the Nigeria police, Lagos command and the State’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, to intensify efforts for timely justice in the case.
The Executive Secretary of the agency, Titilola Vivour Adeniyi, has urged persons with useful information to reach out to the DSVA on its toll-free line – 08000 333 333 or on its social media handles – @lagosdsva.
